No Attempt Limit for CTET (Official Rule)

As per the official guidelines issued by NCTE, there is no restriction on the number of attempts for the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET).
Candidates are allowed to appear unlimited times, even after qualifying, to improve their score.

Official NCTE Statement:
“There is no restriction on the number of attempts for appearing in CTET.”

This makes CTET a flexible and student-friendly eligibility exam.

Is 82 Marks Qualified for CTET?

CTET is conducted for 150 marks, and the qualifying criteria depend on the candidate’s category.

  • For General/EWS candidates, 82 marks are NOT sufficient to qualify.

  • For reserved categories (OBC/SC/ST/Divyang), 82 marks are considered qualified in practice.

Minimum Qualifying Marks for CTET

Category Minimum Marks Percentage
General / EWS 90 60%
OBC / SC / ST 82.5 (≈82) 55%
Divyang 82.5 (≈82) 55%

Conclusion:
82 marks qualify only for reserved categories
82 marks do not qualify for General/EWS candidates

No Restrictions on CTET Attempts

CTET is conducted by CBSE twice a year (July & December).
Candidates can appear multiple times until they qualify, and even qualified candidates can reappear to improve their score.

  • No age limit

  • No experience required

  • Freshers and working professionals both can apply

  • B.Ed final-year students are also eligible

CTET Exam Pattern (Same for Every Attempt)

  • Duration: 150 minutes

  • Sections Include:

    • Language I & II

Benefits of Multiple Attempts in CTET

  • Score Improvement: Reattempts help improve accuracy and time management

  • Career Advantage: Higher CTET scores are preferred in recruitments like KVS, NVS, and State TET-based jobs

  • Confidence Boost: Analyzing past mistakes strengthens weak areas such as pedagogy or mathematics

  • Flexibility: Candidates can reappear even after qualifying

Preparation Strategy to Clear CTET

  • Practice previous years’ question papers

  • Take full-length mock tests (150 minutes)

  • Focus on weak areas identified from scorecards

  • Even 82 marks show near-qualification — General candidates need only 8 more marks with focused revision

  • Use July/December cycles for quick reattempts

Final Verdict

  • 82 Marks Qualification:

    • ✔ Qualified for OBC / SC / ST / Divyang
