XAT vs CAT: Which Is Tougher?

XAT is often deemed tougher than CAT due to its unique Decision Making (DM) section, General Knowledge (GK), and 5-option MCQs, testing ethical reasoning and awareness absent in CAT.

CAT (68 questions, 120 minutes) focuses on VARC, DILR, QA with sectional timers and TITA questions, emphasizing speed and accuracy — high RC vocabulary adds verbal challenge.

XAT (95 questions, 190 minutes total: 105 + 35 + 20 GK minutes) has no sectional limits but trickier VA/LR, arithmetic-heavy QA, and subjective DM cases. Overall difficulty is moderate–high with lower cutoffs (90–95 percentile vs CAT’s 98+).
