Cracking SSC JE (Junior Engineer) is achievable in 4 months but it will be achievable with disciplined and consistent strategy, given its 5–6% success rate and syllabus overlap with GATE. Similarly, SSC CGL aspirants, 120 marks is sufficient for reserved categories in Tier 1 but it's an edge for UR and requires 150+.
SSC JE tests include:

Total: 250 marks

Paper 2: Descriptive
Required marks: 120–140+ aggregate
Cover 60% of basics:
Technical (Strength of Materials, SOM for Civil; Circuits for Electrical)

Yes, toppers crack it in the first attempt with consistency not tougher than GATE technically.
SSC CGL Tier 1 consists of 100 questions (200 marks). Cutoffs vary by category.
| Category | Tier 1 Cutoff |
|---|---|
| UR | 150–160 |
| OBC | 142–149 |
| SC | 120–128 |
| ST | 109–115 |
120 qualifies SC/ST candidates for Tier 2 but requires 140+ for safe UR/OBC progression to AAO/JSO posts.
Tier 2 demands 300+ total marks.
You can repeat:
3 months plan: Quant/Reasoning first, English/GA last
First-timers need 6 months.
Daily 10 hrs study and mocks are important.
