Competition Exams
19 Jul, 2025
You have taken biology in 11th class and you have thought of fulfilling the dream of parents that their child will become a doctor, but the problem is that there is not much information about the NEET exam. Now when there is no information, the child does not understand what to do, how to do it and from where to do it. We are going to talk about what is the NEET exam, what is the pattern of NEET exam, how many marks are there, what is the eligibility, that is, from start to end. you will get every information about the NEET exam. You will know about every single thing about the NEET exam here. So let's start. First of all, let's talk about the full form of NEET exam. Many children want to crack the NEET exam but do not know the full form. So what is the full form of N/A NEET exam? National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is obviously this.
Eligibility :
There is an entrance test, now its conducting body means who conducts it, so probably all of you must have heard about NTA, NTA is its conducting body, I had told in the JEE that this is the same conducting body which also conducts the JEE exam, but remember that after 2009, sorry after 2019, NTA started conducting the NEET exam, before that before 2019, this exam was conducted by CBSE only, now let's talk about who gives the NEET exam, that is, what is its purpose, so look, if you have chosen biology as your subject in 11th class and you obviously want to become a doctor, then you give the NEET exam, NEET UG exam, now the NEET exam is held after 12th in which both 11th and 12th come, whose syllabus we will talk about now, but after giving the NEET exam, if you score well in it, it is obvious that you get a good rank, then again about it If we talk about it, you can do MBBS in a good government college. This is India's single medical entrance exam, after which, you can take admission in courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BPT. After doing MBBS, the word doctor is added before your name. Probably many of you kids would know this. You must have seen Munnabhai MBBS. Now the most important thing that we need to talk about is the exam pattern. So brother, see what are the subjects in the exam pattern. There are four major subjects, Physics, Chemistry.
Syllabus :
Now, Biology is divided into two parts, Botany and Zoology. Well, if we look at it, the coaching of every entrance exam treats and teaches Botany and Zoology in a different way. There are also different teachers generally, but you can also call it biology singly, but majorly we have divided our syllabus in four subjects. Now if we talk about the syllabus of these subjects, then brother Everything of 11th class and 12th class comes, there are some topics which are slightly different from our CBSE, meaning they are extra and some are removed as well, but majorly the syllabus is the same, but yes the entire exam is NCERT based, in the NEET paper that came this year i.e. in 2025, Physics was of a little difficult level, but if we talk about the average, then it is of NCERT level, there are only MCQs, you get less time, you have to solve maximum number of questions in less time.
But NCERT is your core book. There is still some level in Physics and Chemistry. But as far as Biology is concerned, if you have studied Chemistry 100%, and if you have understood every line of it, then in Biology, you can say that your boat has crossed. For Biology, NCERT is everything. Now if we talk about the mode, then it is quite different from JEE. If you have seen or why would you have seen it? If you are a NEET aspirant, but JEE paper is computer based, but it is in offline mode, that is, pen paper mode, meaning you get a paper, you get a pen, you get MCQs and sometimes you understand OMR sheet, you have to mark A B C. Now the very interesting thing is that NEET exam is conducted in about 13 languages, such as Hindi, English, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, etc. So whenever you fill the form, you are allowed to choose your own language. You have the option to give the exam in that language. Now if we talk about the exam, how many questions are there in it? So there are a total 180 questions and all of them are MCQ based.
Exam Pattern :
If we divide them, then you get 45 questions for each subject. As we discussed, it has been divided into four subjects. Now if we see, it is obvious that there will be four options and one option will be correct. That means in basic MCQs, one correct answer is 180 MCQs. You get 180 minutes. Approximately, you get 1 minute for one question. Now if we talk a little about the marking scheme, as we discussed, there are 180 questions. Now, for each question correct, you will get four marks. That means, for answering a question correctly, you get four marks. So, your paper is of 720 marks. In which, obviously, the weightage of Biology will be the highest because 90 questions came from Biology. How did 90 questions come from Biology? You got 45 marks for Zoology and 45 for Botany, so half of the marks, that is, 360 marks are for Bio alone. Now, if you do something wrong, you will get -1 marks, that is, there is negative marking and if you do something right, you will get 4 marks and if you leave any question, it will be zero.
I have already talked about the duration that you have 180 minutes, that is, 3 hours only to complete the paper. That is, on an average, you have 1 minute to solve one question. We are talking about an average, sometimes it will be done in 30 seconds and sometimes it will be done in 10 seconds. So, you will automatically have time left to solve difficult questions, but on an average, you have to solve one question in 1 minute. Now what is the eligibility for this exam, that is, who can give this exam? It is obvious that you have to pass 12th. You should be a 12th pass out. You should have Physics, Chemistry and Bio. If you do not have Bio, then you should have Biotechnology. But in these It is mandatory to have one subject from these, there must be Physics and Chemistry. Now if we talk about it, if you are in the general category then you should have a minimum of 50% marks in 12th. If you are SC ST OBC then you should have 40% marks. If you are from the PWD quota then you must have 45% marks. Now the most interesting thing about the age limit is that by 31st December of the year in which you will give the exam, that means by 31st December of the year in which you are giving the exam, that means by the end, your age should be at least 17 years. So there is a lower limit age but there is no limit in the upper limit. You can give this paper till any age. The most interesting thing is that is why the numbers of droppers are increasing and the competition is increasing and if we talk about the number of attempts, then there is no restriction in this also.
You can give two more exams in one drop, two more next year, two more next year, there are no limits, quite different from JEE paper, now because you are going to give the exam, you should know with how many people you have to compete, in which race you are, how many people are there in front of you, behind you who are running in the same race, it is very important to know this, so if we talk about NEET 2024, then approximately 23 lakh children gave this exam and if we talk about NEET 2025, then approximately 22 lakh children, 22.5 lakh children, 23 lakh children again gave this admission, this exam actually, now if we talk at that level, in government exam, medical seats are from 50 to only 60 thousand, you can see the competition level, now if we talk about cut off, then the cut off is not fixed but your target is 600 plus marks for government college and if we talk about private college, then these marks are reduced to around 500, but you have to score as much as you want. Obviously, the better the marks you get, the better the college you will get. Cut-off: Like this time if the paper was difficult, the cut-off will go down. In 2024, the paper was very easy, so the cut-off went high. So, they vary the cut-off according to the level of the paper. Every year, let's talk about the most important thing, that is, the counseling process.
That is, your exam has come, now your result has also come. Now how does counseling happen? After NEET, as soon as the result comes, there is more admission counseling in which seat allocation takes place. This counseling is done by MCC i.e. Medical Counseling Committee. For the All India Quota 15%, the remaining 85% seats are handled by the State Counseling Authorities. You have to register online, give preference of colleges and courses, and then according to the rank, you get a seat automatically. Now you will get a seat according to your rank. The better the marks you have scored, the better the rank you have, the better the college you will get a seat in. Like, the top rankers get admission in AIIMS. Very good children get admission here. You will learn that gradually in your journey. Right now I have tried to give you every single information about NEET. If you want, you can take screenshots of these things. You can take screenshots. Screenshots screenshots screenshots screenshots. I have tried to tell every single detail about NEET at the basic level which has come in 11th now. If you want to ask any other question related to NEET.
