Competition Exams
29 Sep, 2025
Whether it's salary lines, age , transfers, promotions, anything, everything will be clear to you. As soon as the IB notification comes, IB employees become active, and it's known that most of the CGL and IB selections are always from Lab.
We can't appear for IB interviews. The only reason is that they have a confidential clause stating that if you're selected in IB, you can't give interviews anywhere. Now, this will become your one-stop solution. Enough talk. Now, let's get to the point.
Which is better between CGL and IB ?
So, first, let's look at the logos. This black and white logo represents the Intelligence Bureau (IB). And this red and gold logo represents the SSC (Staff Selection Commission). You can only take the Staff Selection Commission exam if you've graduated. And the SSC CGL is the most coveted job. People colloquially call it "mini-IS" because it offers comfort, status, and money . Right? So, in short, we call it SSC CGL, meaning a job with prestige. Right? Is this clear to everyone ? If the video isn't playing, don't worry. It'll play right away. Okay? Okay, now show it. Let's move on. So, that's your CGL. Then comes our IB. What is IB? IB is your Intelligence Bureau. Okay? It's called an intelligence department job. Very meaningful. It's considered even higher than the police. What happens in the SSC CGL? There 's no single job. You'll get all the jobs from Level 4 to Level 8. Where? In the SSC CGL. Double AO, Income Tax Inspector, Excise Inspector, Preventive Inspector, Examination, then ASO, Assistant Section Officer, whether in the Ministry of External Affairs, CSS, or the Ministry of Railways, then Divisional Accountant, Sub-Inspector, Auditor in the CBI .
So , you get all the jobs from Level 8 to Level 4. The higher your marks in the CGL , the better the job at that level. Now it 's the turn of the IB. Talking about the IB, you have a very attractive post in the IB. It 's a very attractive post. I'm in the IB. You can't explain this, but the confidence you feel inside is that the police wear a police uniform. These IB officers normally go there hiding their identity . They'll sit next to a drug dealer. I mean, one of my students came, so I'm telling you his entire story. You'd just go for a walk, have tea, and sit next to any drug dealer. We'll get all the information from him. It's never in uniform. You can spot it anywhere in your normal clothes . It could be right next to you. You could be strolling in the market. So, this is how IB officers work. Right? In this, you're appointed as Assistant Central Intelligence Officer Grade Two, or IBACIO 2. Then you become IBACIO 1.
Then there's educational qualification. Whether you take the SSC CGL. Or IB 2. Graduation is required for both. No matter what you did for your graduation. Science, Arts, Commerce, etc. Next, if we talk about CGL, what is the minimum age and what is the maximum age? So, if we talk about CGL, your minimum age is 18. Your maximum age is up to 32 for some posts. Talking about IB, the minimum age for IB is 18 and the maximum age is 27. So this is like the SSC and IB posts. So what is the required age? We checked which posts are there. We checked the educational qualifications; graduation is required for both. We also checked the posts. Now we checked the age limit for the paper. How can it be possible that we study for CGL and clear IB? Should I write big things? Yes, it is possible. Only those who qualify for CGL clear the IB. Preparation for CGL, IB, and Phase II is done at the same level . Questions vary depending on the exam pattern. We 'll see that during the exam.
SSC CGL Exams Syllabus :
Now, talking about CGL, there are two papers: Preliminary and Main. In Preliminary, you cover Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English. Each paper is worth 25 marks, and there are 25 questions. Each question is worth two marks. This means you have a total of 100 questions, and the paper is worth 200 marks. Right now, we 're talking about CGL, the Preliminary exam. Now, your Preliminary exam is over. You've qualified . This time, the cutoff was 153 out of 200. The CGL cutoff is generally good. If you want a job, you need to have a good grasp of all the subjects . Okay? So, you've cleared the Preliminary cutoff once. Then you take another paper in CGL, which we call the SSC Mains paper. In the Mains, all four subjects are the same.
That means Math, Reasoning, English, and General Awareness. But what happens here ? One question of yours is worth three marks. That means Math is worth 90 marks, Reasoning is worth 90 marks. English is asked for the highest marks. That means 135 marks. Daily Meri Live Classes start at 11:00 a.m. Forget about English. I target a full 135 out of 135. That's it. Let's move on.
Then you have 25 questions on General Awareness. So, 25 * 30 means 75 marks for GS . Now you might be wondering, how can I study computers for 60 marks? I haven't studied computers. So, brother, computers are only qualifying in nature. It's not like getting 50 out of 60 will move you up in the merit list. No. It 's only necessary to qualify for computers . Merit is determined from here. The four questions from the above four subjects are asked in your prelims. So, that's your SSC. First, you take the prelims, then the mains. Now, when it's your turn for IB , there's only one paper in IB.
There are 100 objective-type questions. Current affairs, general awareness, numerical aptitude, and time and work are all heavily asked in IB. Then there's the IB paper , Reasoning and English, which is 20 each, meaning a pure 100 marks. You can clear it well. There's no particularly terrible paper . What happens is that the second paper isn't MCQs, it's descriptive. They take the IB because they think they can't do the descriptive. Whether it's English-related descriptive, vocab, grammar, interview, or anything, I 've even prepared Hindi-medium students for interviews . So, don't worry about descriptive and interview, both of which are covered in the IB. Many people don't fill out the form because of this. I'll definitely help you prepare. So, the first five subjects are also included in the CGL. The only other thing that happens in the IB is that you have to take a descriptive exam. Meaning, you have to write. You have to write a proper letter and there's an interview. So, that's your responsibility in the IB. Okay? Just focus on preparing for these five subjects right now so that you can do well in the CGL and IB.
SSC CGL Salary :
Get both jobs . Then you should have the choice of selection . Then there's the salary. So, if we talk about CGL, your salary in CGL, since it ranges from Level Four to Level Eight, is between 45,000 and 95,000 . Let's talk about the Eighth Commission now. Once it's implemented, where will your salary reach? After the 8th Commission, your salary will increase from 80,000 to 1.5-1.6 lakh. It's said that even those in private jobs will rush to prepare for CGL and the Central Government. I'm telling you this, as soon as the 8th Commission is implemented, everyone will rush in. If you get ₹15 lakh or ₹2 lakh in the government , who wouldn't want to join? The situation is the same in the IB .
IB ACIO Salary :
The salary in the IB is amazing . You'll get ₹95,000 right now. And after the 8th Commission is implemented, it will increase to 2 lakhs. 1.8 lakh, 1.7 lakh. Now, if I tell you in a minute the difference between the CGL and IB . Graduation is required for both. The salaries in both are excellent. If we talk about CGL, then jobs from level four to level eight are available based on your marks. So the salary can be anything . Level four as well as level eight. Meaning , if we talk about it, your salary can be from 45 to 95.
